11/15/2009: Meet, Greet (& Get Measured)
We will be gathering from 3-6pm on Sunday, November 15th at Basingstoke (5 Herman Rd., Simsbury, CT) to start our journey to opening night. You should come prepared to be measured for costumes, enjoy some refreshments and, if a principal, you should bring a bio and head shot. You will also be able to place T-shirt/sweatshirt orders.
10/18/2009: Updates from Musical Director Ed deGroat
Rehearsals: Rehearsals will start on Sunday, January 3rd for principals and Monday, January 4th for the chorus. Thom and I have decided that for a period of time Sundays will be for principals and Mondays for chorus. We believe this will aid in all aspects of rehearsals. Further clarificationwill come on November 15th and as we get closer to the starting dates.
Chorus Scores: The full score of Fledermaus is obscure and expensive, I can make copies that will be bound and cost $25. But since there will be some changes to the notes for the chorus, cuts and transpositions, I will be making chorus parts that will cost much less. I can’t determine the cost at this time, but will have the parts available on November 15th. Each chorus member can decide whether they want the full score or my version.
Simsbury High School Choral Department: We are in the process of developing a relationship with the choral department of Simsbury High School where we might be able to audition and invite members of their chorus to join ours.
March 12 Interim Performance: Because the production of Fledermaus is new to everyone (and we can all remember the first performance on the 2nd weekend of Merry Widow), we have decided to have a performance/rehearsal on Friday, March 12th. Please put this date into your schedule now and we’ll explain how it will work when we see you on November 15th.
Cameos: The 2nd act party scene is a place where many companies bring in notable personalities for cameos. BG Zeitz and I are developing the list and making contact with people that would be great to have join us.
Musical Cuts: Thom and I have been working on the cuts in the music and are 99% done. We’ll email all the cuts to everyone when completed.
Dialogue: Thom is preparing the dialogue for the principals and has said that it is close to being complete. He will email it to the principals upon completion.
