Artistic Director: TBD
Simsbury Light Opera Company is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Artistic Director to join our
team for the Spring 2024 production of H.M.S. Pinafore by Gilbert and Sullivan.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the artistic vision for the Simsbury Light Opera Company’s Spring 2024
production, including casting (auditions in the Fall), setting a rehearsal schedule, and working with
the technical crew on design.
- Provide guidance and support to the cast and crew throughout the production process,
coordinating closely with the Music Director.
- Oversee the artistic quality and integrity of all performances.
- Foster a positive and collaborative environment that encourages creativity and growth.
Requirements:
- Proven relevant experience in the performing arts.
- Excellent knowledge of musical theater/opera/operetta repertoire and styles.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of performers, directors, and production staff.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by the rehearsal and performance schedule.

Musical Director: Nathaniel Baker
Music Director Nathaniel Baker has recently served as Music Director for West Hartford Community Theater and Connecticut Theatre Company, among other groups. He is the Chorus Master for Connecticut Lyric Opera, and a past Music Director of the Choral Club of Hartford.
Nathaniel has a Master's degree in Piano Performance from the University of Connecticut; his undergraduate degree is from the Hartt School. |
